Coaching is focused on the present rather than the past, it will help people achieve goals by tapping into their own internal energy and resources. Coaches will refer clients to other professionals for issues that are better suited to a therapeutic relationship.
Typically, coaching sessions are conducted online using Skype, Zoom or similar media. Each session is normally 45 minutes in duration, with the terms, frequency and number of sessions being agreed during the first complimentary session. In all cases, a contract is signed between the coach and client before the coaching begins which outlines the terms and conditions.In the case that the coaching is being sponsored by an employer, a separate contract outlining the confidential nature of the sessions and responsibilities of each party is also signed between the coach and the sponsor.
As coaching is generally conducted online, the pandemic has not affected the ability to conduct sessions. However, it is important for those working from home to be able to allocate quiet, personal time and to be able to focus on the coaching sessions.
During each session the client can expect the coach to be fully engaged in an impactful thought-provoking dialogue. As well as establishing goals, challenging open-ended questioning techniques will be employed to assist the client to explore limiting beliefs and blocks to progression and growth. At all times, the client controls the agenda and will drive the pace of the coaching.
Results vary from person to person. Some people can experience shifts in a few sessions, others may need support that continues for several months. Generally speaking, it is recommended to start with a three-month package (2 sessions per week for 3 months). Once the initial goals/outcomes are fulfilled, additional topics may be revealed which will make extension desirable.
If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, it is requested to provide a minimum of 48 hours notice prior to your scheduled time. If you do not cancel or ask to reschedule with sufficient notice, you will be responsible to pay the session fee in full. It is recommended that you acknowledge and confirm your scheduled appointments when they are established.
